What do you think about the idea of living in a motor home and traveling around the country?
January 30th, 2008 | by admin |davidcolyer asked:
I’ve met several people who sold their homes and used the money to buy a motor home so they could travel around the country in their retirement years. Do you think people are acting rationally (or irrationally) when they do this?

I have had a couple of relatives do just that. They all got tired of it after a couple of years. It is a great way to see the country, paying attention to weather and traffic. Of course the down side is fuel prices these days and dispite claims none are fuel efficient. Some have a small car they tow along but no backing up when hooked on. lots of camp ground available. the alternatives might be cars touring with motels or hospice, takes a lot of planning to be economical. By the way when the 2007 models hit the market with the new diesel engines cost will go up 3 to 10k each and even less fuel mileage. And diesel is the only way to go and do your self a favor and learn to drive one before buying. good luck and happy trails
