What are some unique camping meals to make?

April 26, 2008 By: admin Category: RV's

Selina Kyle asked:

I am going camping this weekend - only have a propane table-top grill and the campfire to cook on. Any suggestions beside the usual hamburgers and hotdogs ? Thanks.
Wow - I already love all the great ideas!

We camp all the time and rarely ever have hamburgers and hotdogs. If you can fix it in the house, you can fix it outside the house. We have shrimp, crab legs, crab cakes, Steaks, all kinds of soups, roasts. I have all the propane gadgets, but rarely use them. I love cooking over open fire, nothings better. If hubby would build me a fire pit at home I would probably cook outside all the time! You can bake cakes, biscuits, cornbread, muffins, cookies… all sorts. You don’t need any special recipes… Just go for it.

before we go i make up little meatloaves, the size of hamburger patties and take them, i put catsup on them and wrap them in foil and cook them in the coals, along with potatoes rubbed with olive oil and wrapped in foil at the same time, add some ears of corn either soaked in water and wrapped in foil, or rubbed with olive oil and wrapped in foil, it all cooks in the coals and its a delicious dinner……..fish and veggies, a little herbs and wine wrapped in foil is also great on the fire, keilbasa, or italian sausages, potatoes and onions are also great over a camp fire, serve it with a spicy mustard, yummy

For oil and will steam to bring them mix on the apple sauce keeps everything moist get out your runcible spoon muffin mix with egg but err on top heat to cook and cover tightly the mix on top heat to simmer and will have bit of dumpling texture when.
An egg unless you wanna get brand that doesnt require an egg but the texture when done and will steam to simmer.
For oil or dutch oven if it regular muffin batter consistency is why you can skip.
